W.C.T.U. CONVENTION.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION XELtttRAM.) TIMARU, March 19. The W.C.T.U. Convention passed resolutions protesting against the madequ.ate sentence of eleven months imprisonment on a I>uneclin man for enticing girls to his disorderly hou.se; against th e importation of whisky, the manufacture ot which means the destruction of grain so much needed at Home, and the occupation of shipping spaco t otherwise needed; and against the' display of liquor advertisements at railway stations. It was also agreed thai a letter be sent to Mr Lloyd George asking for the abolition of wet canteens in camps where New Zealand soldiers are trained. Miss Weymouth was appointed travelling secretary to collect funds for the campaign of 1918, plans for which were discussed.
