UTILITY POULTRY CLUB.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Utility Poultry Club was held last evening, Mr S. Dick presiding over a large attendance of members. y A letter was received from the North Canterbury Hospitable and Charitable Aid Board drawing attention to an alleged nuisance in regard to tho water supply at tho club's pens in Northcot© roa-d. It was decided to refer the letter to the landlords. A letter was received from Corporal V. At/kinson. a former member, now in. hospital in London, thanking'the club for kind enquiries about his health, and wishing the club every success. The question of photographing the leading pens in the Egg-laying Competition waa left to the Education Committee. It, was decided to retain all single birds laying -over 280 eggs up to March. 31st, also tho pens of ducks breaking previous records. Tho Education Committee, with the president, were deputed to go through tho remits which arc'to be presented to tho Poultry Conference in Wellington at Easter. The secretary announced that about 100 ' .entries had beon received for the Young Bird Show on Ma-rch 30th- * It was decided not to allow the holding lof a, proposed auction sale of tho competition pens on the grounds a few days beforo tho closing of the competition. It was decided to send out a tabulated list of all broodv fowls in the competition. Mr J. Sha\fr and Mr J. Tindall then gave a demonstration' of the utility and show points of Black Orpingtons, and received a very hearty vote of thanks.
