FOOTBALL.
CANTERBURY RUGBY UNIOX. A meeting of tho committee of tho Canterbury Rugby Union was hold yesterday, Mr F. D. Keetoven presiding-. Arrangements were made for a match between soldiers on leave from Fcatherston Camp and a Canterbury team, to t>o held in Christchurch on Saturday, March 30th, and a selection -committee, consisting of Moa&ra Fuller, Barrett, and Buchanan, was appointed, to pick tho Canterbury team. The president (Mr F. T. Evans) advised the committee that ho would be unablo to accept office as. president this year, and a nub-committeo -was appointed to interview him. , , The secretary (Mr C. "W. Hervoy) handed in his Tesifrnaiion, and a sub-committee was appointed to mako arrangements in conscqucnce.
ALBION CLUB. The annual meeting- of the Albion Football Chib was held last evening, Mr S. F. T\ xlson presiding over a good attendance. The annual report remarked on the very satisfactory state of the club's affairs, notwithstanding tho present unfavourable conditions. It was to be much regretted that several more members had laid down their live 3in the causi of freedom. The past season Jiiid been an eventful on£, bo tho club's senior team was concerned. Earner in tho season matters had not been so satisfactory-, but owing to the efforts of Mr A. Henry, a very useful team had later taken the field. Reference to various outside matches played during the season was made in tho report, and various social gatherings of a successful nature were also referred to. The annual balance-sheet showed cash in hand amounting to £11 6s Bd. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Twenty-seven new members were elected. Officers for the ensuing season were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr T. S. Foster; president, Mrs Bettle; vice-presidents, Messrs E. G. McCullough, H. Morrow, S. F. "Wilson, Wor6dale, G. Henwood, G. Petrie, and Dr. Moorhouse; chib captain, Mr E. W. Britton: hon. secretary, Mr E. T. Fuller; hon. treasurer, Mr T. "W. Heron; committee, Messrs C. Mercer, E. G. Keats, G. D. Gray, J. Wilson, G. \V. McClure, and G. Wallen; custodian, Mr G. Kerr; delegates to Canterbury Ffligby Union, Messrs G. D. Gray, C. Mercer, E. W. Britton, and G. Wallen; selection committee, left in hands of General Committee; representative to Sports Protection Association, Mr T. W. Heron; auditor, Mr S. F. Wilson. ' . With regard to the Rugby Union's proposals as to conditions for the coming season's football, the club's delegates to the annual meeting of the Union were given a free hand, with a strong . recommendation from the club that there should be an age limit in the third gra.de competition.
I LIXWOOD CLUB. The report to be presented to the 31st- anI liual meeting of the Linwood Football Club j states tliat assets exceed, laibilities by £251 ! las sd. During the year over 50 new members have been elccted. The members of j the senior team arc congratulated upon winning the championship. The seniors played 15 matchcs, and won 12 and one was drawn; juniors A won 8 of the 11 matches played; and juniors B won one of the eight matches played, one being drawn. The club's Roll of Honour in connexion with the war has now close on one hundred names upon it. The following members have mud© the supreme sacrifice:—S. Jatnes, A. Johnston, A. ICernxodc, A. E. Xorrie, G. Peterson, A. J. Fox, C. Greeks, J. Stirling, \V. Sandford, E. Wills, J. Berbeck, J. Hawkins, and B. 'Turner. The club extends to the relatives it 3 deepest sympathy. Tho thirty-sixth annual general meeting of the Sydenham Football Club will be held in the club rooms to-night, at 8 o'clock.
