A DOCTOR'S DENUNCIATION. (special to "the press.") DITNEDIN, March 18. Speaking at a reception to returned soldiers at Queenstown, last month, Dr. Stewart said if he were an orator, he would stump the country and show up tho meanness of the pension system in such a way that no Government man would dare to show his face. They had not been ashamed, ho declared, to mat© uso of the medical profession to persuade crippled soldiers that they were only partially disabled, when, as "a fact, they were totally disabled. This denunciation was brought before the Otago Patriotic Association to-day, when tho Hon. J. T. Paul stated that many soldiers who were go far totally disabled as to bo totally unable at present to follo w - their occupations, wore getting only "partial" pensions, and it would bo as well to get the Minister's view to the doctor's statement. Lieutenant-Colonel Stoneham said that they must have spocifie cases hefore they could put a case to the Minister. It was resolved to refer the question to tho Soldiers' and Dependants' Welfare Committee to investigate and report. Dr. Stewart is to be asked to supply the full facts of tho cases referred to bv him.
