THE FALLEN AND WOUNDED. PERSONAL NOTES. ' v "" Mr Wni. Eaglesome, Tnllamore, Springbank, lias received a cablegram stating that Lis son, I>rivcr 11. J. Eaglesome, is seriously ill in tho Connaught Military Hospital, Aldershot. Mrs Edward Ensor, Okuku, has received word that her husband is returning to New Zealand. Private Ensor left last August -with the 29th Reinforcements, and was severely wounded in the left hand on January Ist. Cable advice was received on Saturday from the Indian Army Headquarters of the death of Lieutenant Alfred A. C. Tegner, aged 29 years, on March 6th. He was the youngest son of Mrs C. Tegner, of Rona Bay, "Wellington, and a nephew of Inspector Marsack, of tho district police ottice. He enlisted as a private in the Main Body in 19X4. and was invalided home in 1913, ana was then employed in Base Records. Later _ he held the rank of sergeantmajor in the Defence Department, and in October, 1916, received an appointment in the Indian Army. Lieutenant Tegner loft New Zealand the same month, and was stationed for a timo at Quetta, later being moved to Kut-el-Amara. Private J. A. G. McChesney (wounded and gassed) is a 6on of Mrs C. McChesney, Earn street, Invercargill, and the late Mr Jas. McChesney, Inspector of Permanent Way, Ashbur- [ ton. The wounded soldier, who is at- | tached to the 17th Reinforcements, 1 Canterbury Infantry, was educated at

tho Ashburton and Invercargill South Schools. Ho was employed as a clerk in Messrs Wright, and Co.'s office, Invercargill, for some time, later taking up fruit farming at Nelson, in which occupation he was progressing before leaving for the front. Ho fought in soveral big engagements, including Messines, and was ougaged as a sniper. He is 22 years of age, and a native of Wanganui. Mrs W. Hibbard, 140 Aikman's road, Merivale, received advice yesterday that her son, Private Fred Hibbard, was wounded in the chest on February 21st, and admitted to the Military Hospital, Endell street, London on February 28th. Private Hibbard left with tho 17th Reinforcements. Mrs A. Marshall, of Springston, has receivctl word that her youngpst son, Privnto Hector Marshall, is returning home. Ho left with the 17th Reinforcements, at tho age of 18 years. He was wounded a't Messines. and has 6ince also suffered from trench fever.
