SETTLERS.
On Friday last the Marlborough Coast .Settlers held a ewe fair in their new yards at Clarence bridge, sales being conducted by Messrs Pyne and Co., Dalgety and Co., and the Now Zealand Fanners' Co-op. Association. Tho entry totalled 19.000. Prices, while not reaching owners' expectations in some cases, were about on a par with those realised at other sales. Station lines were good, useful sheep, and dealers' lots made up a considerable portion of the yarding. Messrs Pvne and Co. had a yarding of close on'll,ooo sheep, und made tno following sales: —For J. Mclvenzie, .'0 lambs at 14s: J. Pa ton, 200 ewes at 24s 9d; J. Paton, 4 wethers at It's; K. G. Association lxad a yarding of just over 4000, sales being made as follows: — For C. F. Murray, 280 two-tooth owes at 35s 6d, 387 four and six-tooth, ewes at 36s lid, 385 at 36s 3d, 178 twotooth wethers at 26s 7d; G. Stevenson, 200 four, six, and eight-tooth ewes at 26s Gd, 29-5 s.m. merino ewes at 16s. 200 four, six, and eight-tooth ewes at 25s 7d; Richmond Brook Station, .900 four-tooth wethers i'.t 27s 4d; J. H.
Mum-o, 327 four and six-tooth wethers at 27s 6d. 150 at 28s 6d. besides various smaller lines at the average ruling prices. Messrs Dalgetv and Co. had a yarding of 4151 sheen, the whole of which were disposed of at very satisfactory prices. A very nice line, of 244 fourtooth three-ouarterbred ewes, bred by Mr A. -T. Murray, AVoodbaiilc. topped the market at 375. Sales were: —For

WAIAT7. The Waiau 'ewe fair was held yesthere being an entry of 4000 sheep. Heavy rain fell in the. morning. but the weather cleared before tho commencement of the sale. There was a good attendance of buyers, and n very satisfactory sale resulted, very few lots being passed. The principal sales were as under:— For J. Liddle, 114 two-tooth ewes at 395; J. Lee. 32 at 29s 6d; .H. Knight, 184 at 345: H. Atkinson, 09 at 335; J. Liddle, 360 at 38s 7d; K. A.vrton. 113 at 3Ss 9d; J. Liddle, 50 four-tooth ewes at 365; T. Wilson, 39 s.m. ewes at 20s: J. Pelligrow, 110 at 20s; H. Knight, 99 at 29s 6d; H. Watson. 123 at" 29s 9d : Cheddar Valley, 1.3S at 2os 6d ; T. Wilson j 145 at 295; B. Beth-Smith. 126 ewes at 22s 3d; F. LITTLE RIVER. Tlio annual cwo fair was held at Little River yesterday. There was a yarding of about 10,000 ewes and lambs, and a very large attendance of buyers. Values were, on the whole, satisfactory. Tho highest price -\\-as for a lino of twotooth ewes, sold on account of IT. W. Williams, Robinson's Bay, which made 455. Eight hundred two-tooth ewes from Kin loch brought- 4.0s to 41s tid. Sound-mouthed ewes brought 20s 3d to 33s 6d, four, six, and eignt-tooth ewes 2js 9d to 34s 4d, and Jambs, a large proportion of '.rhich were culls, 17s yd to L'os Cd. i There was al<o a large yarding of cattle, mostly young stock, nearly every head of which, changed hands at satisfactory pricon. Bulls made £10 -3s and .L 7 17\ <jci. <-alves £4 7s, and eighteeiimoi'tbs steers i'o ss. •J. U. Coop sold a line of one-shear English Leicester rams at prices ranging up to 7V guineas. The local Red Cross had a luncheon tent in the library grounds, and did a good trade. The funds are for sending parcels to the boys at the front. L'p to o p.m. the receipts iiom breakfast, luncheon and afternoon tea. amounted tc- about £50. In addition, the soft drink stall took something over £5. The scci\A»rv reports that these amounts w£i be net, as all the food for the day was given by the residents of Little River. and the neighbouring districts and bays. The Automobile Association motored out a number of wounded soldiers, who were the guests oi' the local Red Cross.
