CITY COUNCIL.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The City Council met last evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr H. Holland), and Crs. A. M. Loasby, D. G. Sullivan, E. Peek, A. Wells, E. J. Howard, H. Hunter, A. S. Taylor, W. Nicholls. J. W. Beanland, P. R. CHmie, A. McKel*lar. J. A. Flesher, J. R. Hay ward, and H. ti. Ell. Upon the recommendation of the Bj'Ir.ws and Finance Committee, it was decided to York' street, off Barbadoes street, "Nora place." Tho Electricity Committee reported that the question of marking the footpaths where, cables are laid had been further considered, and tho committee now proposed to mail; a length'of two or three chains-with broken shells, and to report further after this form of i marking had been tried. Messrs H. J. Beswick, W. H. Hargreavec, and H. R. Smith were appointed Sinking Fund Commissioners in respect of the loans raised under tho Sanitation Empowering Act, 1903, the Destructor Improvements Loan of £5000, and the North Richmond Waterworks Loan of £6000, no sinking funds having hitherto been set aside in re■sppct of these loans It was resolved to congratulate the rate collector and his staff upon the splendid results achieved by them.
