TRINITY CHURCH.

Ifc. ♦ bjtEMORIAL TABLET UNVEILED. •f There was a large congregation at tho morning service at the Trinity Congregational Church yesterday, when- the Rev. Harry Johnson, the former pastor, occupied the pulpit, and delivered a splendid discourse from Deuteronomy, 11th chapter and UtJi verse: "But the land whither yo go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys." Prior to the close of the service Mr Johnson said that a duty and an honour had fallen upon him, in that he had been asked to unveil a tablet to the memory of the late James "Woodham. Tho ranks of tho worthy pioneers of the Church, ho said, were fast being depleted. Tho late Mr Woodham's lite had been a faithful stewardship. He had served his Master in his day, and had gone to his reward after 55 years of service, and 53 of that as a member of that church. The services had been started in Lichfield street, and he had held the office of treasurer in the year 1862. It was by his woVk and fidelity to Congregationalism that gave birth to the present church. Mr Johnson then unveiled the tablet, and after a short prayer the choir *ang an anthem. The tablet is placed on the west wing of tho church. The lettering is on white marble, and the following is tiar inscription:— "In memorinm, James Woodham. born 4th I March, 1832. died May 26th, 1917, A I foonder of tHis church, and beloved number and worker for 53 years.
