Some months ago. when the prospects of labour for harvesting wcrc not too bright, the liangitikoi County Council tiavo its roadmen permission to assist "the farmers with their harvesting operations. The results were vorv satisfactory, and the valuable lielii given by the roadmen in saving the* crops was greatly appreciated. The farmers are now giving a quid pro quo. Hridges ami culverts with eoncrote pipes required renewing in some parts, and, according to the report of Mr A. Thoms. road inspector for the county, the farmers, who are over the harvest are helping the roadmen to <lo the work. This is tho truc spirit of co-operation.
