Tho readings taken at the Ashburton Domain weather station at 9 a.in. yesterday were—Barometer, 29.93; thermometer, max. 66, min. 52. luo following meteorological observation was token at the Aebburton weather station for the month of February:—Highest reading of the barometer 30.28, on the 2nd; lowest 29.32, on the 26th. Highest reading of the maximum thermometer, 90deg., on t'ho 14th; lowest 65deg., on tho 16th. Highest rending of the minimum thermometer 60deg., on the 6th; lowest 40deg., on the 20th. The rainiall for February was 2.40 in, ad compared with l.flOin for the similar period last year. Rain fell on 12 days, the maximum being 140 points, on tho 16th. Tho total rainfall for the two months this year is 5.18 in. SUMMARY AND FORECAST. The storm area has persisted in tho North, and high squally south-east winds have prevailed over the North Island, and north-east breezes in the South. ' The weather lias been unsettled generally, and heavy rain continues along tho East Coast of the North Island.

Present indications are for unsettled and showery conditions generally, end heavy rain is likely iu the East Coast districts of tho North Island. Expect high south-east winds northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, and moderate to strong easterly to northerly winds elsewhere. Tho barometer is unsteady,
