ADDINGTON MARKET.
GOOD AVERAGE SALE. (BT Otm COMMERCIAL EDITOR.) In spite of the dull morning thcro was a very good attendance of buyers and farmers. The yarding of beef was well up to recent sales, and there was also a largo yarding of store sheep, which met with a keen demand. The entry, both of fat lambs and fat sheep, was smaller than at the previous week's market, and good sales resulted on a par with late rates. STORE SHEEP. Tho entry of store sheep -was again a large one, ewes comprising the bulk of the penning. Tho quality of the 1 offering was rather uneven, but for anything at all good tho demand was very keen, and ttie market was a little better than last week for good, fresh farmers' ewes. Several dealers' lots and backward and aged sheep, however, did not meet with a very enthusiastic reception. Tho range of prices was as follows: — Two-tooth, ewes, to 34s 9d. - Four and six-tooth ewes, to 38s. Six and eight-tooth ewes, to 33s 9d. Sound-mouthed ewes, - 2£Js Ud to 39s «d. Two-tooth wethers, to 27s 9d. Four and six-tooth wethers, to 30s 7d. Ewe lambs, to 265. Wether lambs, 19s 3d to 2-ls. M.S. lambs, to 22s 6d. There was a much smaller offering of fat lambs in the pens, only 2328 being forward, as compared with 3139 at the previous week's sale. There was a rather smaller varding of sheep in the fat pens than .was tho , case last week, and the quality; taking it all round, was not up to the standard of the previous week's market. There was an undue proportion of rough and unfinished stuff, but there was also a fair quantity of prime wethers and ewes, which met with a ready sale, butchers taking the bulk of tho offerings. The range of prices was: — Extra prime wethers to 425. Prime wethers 35 s to 38s. Lighter 28s 3d to 37s tid. Merino wethers 19s 3d to 275, Extra prime ewgs to 39s Id.

There was a rather smaller yarding of fat cattle at the opening of the market, and the sale started off very well for all classes of beef. The arrival of a late consignment of 6tock steadied the sale considerably, and it tended to flag a little towards tho finish, though there was no quotable difference in values over last week's market. Butchers obtained the bulk of the offerings, exporters only taking a small proportion. Tho range of prices was: — Extra prime steers to £23. Prime steers £17 17s 6d to £19 12s 6d. Ordinary steers £14 17s 6d to £16 12s 6d. Prime heifer 3 £11 5s to £1/. Ordinary heifers £9 17s 6d to £11. Prime cows £12 7s 6d to £17 ss. Ordinary cqws £9 l(te to £11 10s. A good entry was yarded the bulk being principal three-year-old heifers. wero slightly firmer, but for baconers the effect of fixed prices for the cured product was again apparent, and price: were possibly a shade easier. Prices ruled: — Choppers £4 to £6. Heavy baconers to £G. Medium baconers £0 5s to £5 12s Gd. Lighter baconers £4 os to £5. Equal to 7Jd to 8d per lb. Heavy porkers £2 12s to £4. Lighter porkers £3 to £3 10s. Equal to 9id to 10Jd per lb. There was a largo entry of _ store pigs, and big sorts sold wel'j bringing from 55s to U3s. The demand was not so good for small and medium pigs, and a decline in values resulted of about os per head, the prices ranging from 45s to 525. Small pigs brought from 28s to 365, weaners 18s to 275, and sows in nig to £5 ss.
