LONDON, March 1. j Eight youths, charged at Sligo Courthouse with participation in an unlawful assembly, refused to remove i their hats, began smoking, and sang Irish "freedom" songs. The Magistrate demanded an apo- ; logy, but one of the youths said that ho did not pay regard to any representative of the British Constitution. The Magistrate imposed a sentcneo of seven days' imprisonment for contempt of court-. and the prisoners thereupon threw themselves on the I floor. | Whilo the police were attempting to | remove them, the crowd in court became threatening, and a detachment j of the military was summoned. 1 The prisoners were carried out to a lorry and removed to gaol, amidst a j scene of great excitement. i FURTHER SINN FEIN OUTRAGES. There have been numerous raids for arms, cattle driving, and tho seizure of land, but the military now control County Clare, and civilians are not allowed out after nightfall. A party of Moonlighters in Galway fired nine shots at a farmer's house, and thero have been similar outrages elsewhere. Sinn Feiners are also publicly burning American flags. SINN FEIN "GENERAL" ARRESTED. (Received March 3rd, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. March 1. Michael Brennan, who styles himself "General Commanding the Forces of the Irish Republic of County Clare," has been arrested. Brennan has been accustomed to travel the district in a khaki uniform. ORDER RESTORED IN CLARE. (United Scrvioe.) (Received March 3rdj 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, March 2. The "Daily Mail's" Ennis correspendent says:— "The magic touch of authority has restored order in Clare. All lawlessness has disappeared."
