A FARMER'S DEATH.
VERDICT OF SUICIDE
An inquest was ho?;l at Horrelville on Friday evening by Mr R. H. Parish, J.P., Acting Coroner, on the body of George Ironside, who was found -with his throat cut and a gunshot wound in his chest 011 Thursday afternoon. !,
Douglas Henderson, i ! a , young man employed on Ironside's farm/stated that on February ltfth Mis-Ironside went to Xcw'Brighton with/her family for a holiday. At -I Thursday last deceased, who had 'appeared peculiar in his manner, sent witness, out to feed the horses. On returning to the house witness made some tea and carried it to deceased's bedroom, and thore found him lying on a couch with his throat cut and a razor lying on the floor beside him. Deceased was alivo but did not speak. Witness immediately rode away to a neighbour's, a mile distant, for assistance, and also informed Constable Leahy, of Oxford.
Constable Leahy stated that when informed of tho occurrencc he went with Dr. Bagley to deceased's house. On arriving they found deceased lying dead 011 tho -floor of tho bedroom, with a shot gun beside him. Ho had been shot in the chest, but the wound was only a glancing one. Dr. Bagley gave evidence that death was due to tho wound in the throat. Thomas Adams, company share salesman, said he called at the house between three antl four o'clock on Thursday afternoon and had a conversation with deceased, with .reference to the purchase of somo shares. Deceased was very queer in his manner. The Coroner returned a verdict that deceased committed suicide while temporarily insane.
