CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

» ANNUAL MEETING.

The thirty-sixth annual meeting of the Canterbury Caledonian. Society was held last night. There was a good attendance, the president, Mr C. S. Thomas, in the chair. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (of which a precis has been published), the chairman said that the past year had been a rceord one, and the Society for the second year running had shown a balance to credit. Ho urged that the campaign for new members should be continued. Reference waa made to tho work done by the secretary (Mr W. G. Brass), and by tho honorary treasurer (Mr Leon Sey). At the president's call hearty choex3 wero given for Mr Sey, who goes into camp shortly. Mr Geo. Ritchie seconded the motion, which was agreed to. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr J. Mawson Stewart, tho Society's honorary auditor. Officers were elected as follows:—President, Mr C. S. Thomas; vice-presidents, Sir John Dennis ton, Dr. Walter Thomas, Messrs William Eraser, and George Ritchie; directors?: Messrs F. H. Bowler, A. McKenzie, J. D. Mclntyre, R. Malcolm, Thos. Marker, R. E. Nightingale, R. H. Rankin, A. B. Tench, B. Wilson, B. Moore, W. Edginton, G. Sey, C. Mcintosh, D. Sinclair, and J. O. Jamieson; honorary treasurer, Mr R. M. Donaldson; secretary, Mr W. Geo. Brass; honorary auditor. Mr J. Mawson Stewart. On the motion of the president a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Pipe-Major L. Taylor and the members of the Pipe Band. A vote of thanks wae accorded the directors'. On the motion of the president, seconded by Mr Ritchie, it was agreed that the amount standing to debit in capital account in connexion with the Society's Benevolent Fund be written off. After discussion, it was decided that the number of visitors' tickets issued to each member bo reduced from six to four.
