FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT OXFORD. A destructive fire" occurred at Oxford' at noon yesterday, - by whieli Mrs Reynolds's boarding-house and the residence of Mr C. F. Hall were totally destroyed. A north-west gale was blowing. The fire was d.scovered in the rooi of the boarding-house. As it was useless to attempt to save the buildiujj, efforts were made to securo tho furmj ture, a good deal of which was saved. I Mr Hair* house, close by, was an easyprey. Much of nis furniture -was saved. The efforts to save his supply of coal and firewood were successful. It is understood that there was no insurance on the boarding-house, but there was some on the furniture. Mr Hall's hous;i was insured. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HASTINGS. February 26. Tho Manor Boarding-house, containing twenty-eight rooms, owned by W. H. Compton and occupied bv Murray and Spalding, was totally destroyed by fire at two o'clock this morning. Nothing was saved. The occupants all escaped in scanty apparel. The insurances are: Buildings, £750 in the State Office; furniture, £400 in the Northern Company.
