A letter from the City Electrical Engineer, dealing with tho cost of certain lamps, was referred to the Lighting Committee. A letter from Mr -Li. S. Poison, beach patrolman, regarding complaints as to tho manner in which he was currying out his duties, was referred to tho Surf Club to report. , The Works Committse reported that Mr T. Lester's offer to make tho roadway on the North Esplanade had been acceptcd, and recommended that enquiries be made as to the "VVoolston ranger acting in tho Barno capacity for IN ew Brighton, and that a detention yard for tho purpose of holding wandering stock be erccted.—Adopted. A deputation from the South Brighton Burgesses' Association urged tho Coudcil to continue Fox street through to Estuary road. The delegates were advised that their wishes would be given every consideration. On the motion of Cr. Winny, it was decided to approve of the plans and specifications of the conveniences to be erected at North Brighton, and to call for tenders" for the construction of same. In reply to Cr. Browning tho chairman of the "Works Committee said the new work on the Esplanade, .between Hood street and Rodney street, would be taken in hand as soon as the wet weather Bet in and tho sand was in a settled condition for handling. The treasurer reported as follows:—Receipts £382 10s lid, expenditure £259 2s 4d, bank balance credit £320 15s lid, temporary loan dr. £1785. Bellamy, ono of the Council employees, was appointed engineer to tho Fire Brigade.
