* CHRISTCHUP.CH CLUB. Tlio annual meeting of ■ tile Christchurch Golf Club was held last evenins:. Mr "William Wood presiding. The motion was seconded by *j e Hub captain. Mr S. K. Sleigh, who referred to the decided improvement in the financial position and the saving in the past year of £297 6s Sd. reducing ihe overdraft to £210 12s 4d. Ihireceipts showed an increase of £20-1 eve: - those of the t revious year, whjle the expenditure had decreased by £172. V.'itli regard to the future finance ol the Huh. Mr .Sleigh expressed the • .•pinion that entrance fees should le rapii: iiseil. As far as outstanding subscriptions were concerned, lie thought it ii:o.-t unfortunate that such :i Hub should have so much outstanding in that direction. In his opinion, ill" securing of subscriptions fro/u honorary members entailed more trouble'than thev were worth. Tin- n port and balance-sheet were adonted. Ollicers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mr William Wood; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Montgomery, T. D. Condell. and C. 11. Hewlett: captain. Mr S. K. Sleigh; committee, Messrs J. D. Millton. J. P. Murphy, 31. 11. Godby, J. C. Roraitlson, W. \Y. 31orton, and G. G. Aitl.eii; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. W. 11. Francis. •Some discussion took place as to what should be done when the club's professional, lies, went into camp within the next few months. It was decided, for the present, that Iles's services should be retained from ihe Hosing of his present contract with the club at the end of March, until his going into camp, his retaining fee to be obtained by subscription. It wab further decided that Iles's position be kept open for him sine die during his absence at the war. / A hearty vote of thanks was_ passed to Mr Comerford for his services as s"cretary to the club for three years. Mr Hewlett was also heartily thanked for his several years' service on "lie Green Committee. A similar vote was passed to Mr C. H. Snms, for about 20 years a member of the committee. Various trophies won during "he past year were presented to the successful members by the chairman. 3rr ~T. 0. Jameson suggested that it would be a good plan to have the old foursomes included in the year's programme. This, he considered, would be of great benefit to the younger members, if the foursomes comprised both old and experienced members and new members. Without moving in the .matter, he expressed the hope that the committee might consider the matter.
