•Mr AsqniTTi. addressing tho liberal agents on tho necessity of preparing for a general election, when the new register, doubling the number of voters, had been completed, said: —

"The Liberal party is not going to be obliterated, or merge its identity in the new, embryonic political combination. Its continued indepedent activity was never more necessary as tho multiplied and complicated problems of peace reconstruction will soon confront us.''
