KARIOI TRAGEDY
ARREST OF ROBINSON.

It is alleged that, in the early hours of .Sunday morning, Peter Larsen was killed by having his hoad battered in whilo asleep by a fellow-workman named Jack llcbinson. It is stated that drink had been taken into the camp, and during Saturday night the timo was whilcd away with a gamo of cards. A quarrel aroso ovor the gamo, but the men parted and went to their respective beds.
Som 0 time after Larson went to sleep, and, it is said, Robinson came with some heavy weapon and struck the sleeping man a terrific blow, killing him instantly. There waa no evidence of a scuffle.
Robinson was arrested at Karioi and taken to Ohakune. where he was remanded till to-morrow. An inquest was opened, but wos also adjourned till to-morrow.
