Tlio marriage of Miss Dorothy Amelia Clare .Tones, second daughter of Mr- T. E. Jones, of Terrace Gardens, Wellington, and Mr E. W. Cate, eldest son of Mr Cate, of Taranaki, took place at St. Mark's Church, Wellington, last -week. The Rev. Mr Askew officiated, and the service was choral. The bridesmaids were Misses Marjorie Jones and Venna Greenfield, and little Dorothy Dines was the train-bearer. Mrs Percival Morgan, sister of the bride, received the wed-

ding guests. Mr and Mrs Cate left later by motor for New Plymouth.

GOLDEN WEDDING

The golden wedding of Mr and Mrs Thos. O'Connell, of Fitzgerald avenue, was celebrated on Friday. A Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated at the Catholic Cathedral by his Lordship Bishop Brodie afc 7.30 a.m., at which all the family, friends, and 15 grandchildren assisted. The marriage took place at the ProCathedral, Barbadoes street, on February 22nd, 1868, the late Father Chataqueir officiating. The family comprises five sons and threo daughters, the eldest son being the Very Rev. .tather OJConnell, parish priest of AYanganm, and the youngest Corporal j "• w "° 1S on active service, and a member of the firm of O'Connell Bros plumbers; Mr F. O'ConA, 1 , 1 the family are living Mr O Connell arrived in Christchurch on December 9th, 1863, by tho sailing shb D. G. Flem.ng. Mrs O'Connell a ?riveS here on September 15th, 1863, by the ship Acknngton. They have lived Christchurch ever since. On Saturday afternoon a gathering of friends took place.
