AMUSEMENTS.

OPERA HOUSE

The large audience present at' the Opera House, which witnessed the initi;il performance by the Walter Johnson Revue Company ot '"The Kissing Maid," found it mirth-provoking, and thoroughly enjoyed the many pleasing choruses und stago pictures. As its title indicates, it is, in parts inclined to be cloyingly sweet, but- there are many who like super-sweetness, and their tastes cannot be ignored. The framework of the revue is, like that of most of its forerunners, of the flimsiest of fabric, but is stout enough to sustain some pleasinglv given vocal items. Miss Lola Hunt had the bigger portion of tile sin<nn« T . and contributed "Come Along All You Men," "Orange Blossom Time in Loveland," "Men. Men, Men, ' and "Midnight Cabaret." Miss Stella Starr had a sprightly number in "The Rocky Road to Dublin" with chorus ar.d Irish jig: and Miss Rita Starr was successful with "Listen to the Dixie Band" and "Cakewalk Jubileo." Mr Ernest Lashbrookc. as SvengnU, made an excellent impression with "My Trilbv Maid" ; ?,Ir Walter Johnson ir.ado the most- of "Tho Moving Picture Man," and Mr Harry Burgess, in the character of a French daudv, gave with success "Ze English Language." Probably the most convincing an<l humorous partv in the revne was the satirical interlude: "In the Keystone Movies," Mr Lashbrooke appearing with much success as Charlie Chaplin, Miss Belle Millette as Mabel Normand, Miss Lola Hunt as Florence French, Miss Stella Starr as Kate Price, Frank Neil as Walrus, and Harry Burgess as Ambrose. Gus Fianks, as the Jewish capitalist, was responsible for much of the mirth in the revue. The Trio Classique were again -warmly received, and the Harlans (acrobats), and Hickey and Rose (juvenile dancers), were successful in their items. There will be the customary matinee this afternoon in addition to the evening performance.
