Y.M.C.A. "RED TRIANGLE" DAY.

1 At a meeting of business men of Christchurch, held in the Chamber of Commerce oil Thursday afternoon, further arrangements were made in connexion with tho movement to raise £1-5,000 to enable the Y.M.C.A. to continue its war work among the soldiers. Mr C. M. Ollivier, chairman of tho executive, presided. Mr G. H. Wilson, of Auckland, who addressed the meeting, said that in Auckland the appeal of tho Y.M.C.A. had resulted in £50,000 being raised. The meeting set up various committees and arranged to carry out an exhaustive canvass of the city during the Saext three weeks. The chairman announced that several subscriptions of £500 each had been promised. , (PKESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.') WELLINGTON, February 22. At a public meeting held to-night, it was decided"to make an effort to raise the sum of £25,000 in Wellington and suburbs for the Red Triangle Day Fund. , TO THE BDITOB OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—May I, on behalf of the Citizens' Committee, make a special appeal through your columns on behalf of this special fund ? This is a citizen's work, and the money must be raised by March loth. £15,000 at least is tho amount asked of tho city and suburbs, and if each gives according to his or her means, j we should, without much self-denial, be ahle to do what is asked of us. No words written or spoken can overestimate the value of Y.M.C.A, work on fighting fronts, and nothing wo can subscribe can over-pay the debt we owo to those who are fighting for our homes, our protection, our comfort, and our commerce. In spite of all calls this one is worthy to be headed, and I invite for our committee and our collectors now starting out, the sympathy and generosity of your readers, and a ready response. • Christchurch "expects every man to do his duty"—it is but a duty— of that all mus.t agree. j To those who may, in a short and busy canvass be missed, I would apolo- 1 gise in advance* but their subscriptions j to any amount will be readily and I gratefully received and acknowledged : by the fund's hon. treasurer (Mr A. Stedir.an, Bank of New South Wales)' ' by the secretary (P.O. Box 373), or by myself. —Yours, etc., C. MORTON OLLIVIER. 1 Chairman Citizens' Committee.
