The monthly ceilidh of the Scottish Society was held iast night and waa largoiy attended. Chief A. W. MacGillivray presided and the Mayor of Christchurti (ill H. Holland) was amongst those present. Miss Lucy Cowan recited "Far .Frae Bonnie Scotland" as an appeal in connexion wi:h Heather Day. Later in tho evening a basket, made by a lady over 60 years ol age, and filled with heather eprigs, was put up by Mr Georgo ttoberteon acting as auctioneer. It was finally knocked down to Mr Kobcrt Duncan for £5 ss, the total received being £22 5s 6d. An interesting programme wad given, those contributing being Miss Fleming, Mrs McWhirter, Miss Lucy Cowan, Mr Hugh Dunlop, Mrs JV. J. Walter, and Mr Cushworth; Mrs Adam played tho accompaniments for the vocalists. Pipe music was played by Piper Sidney Smith, ajid Eonald Eraser, and Highland nances were given by A. E. Evans, T. D. Berry, and Misses Lizzie McCallum and Bunty McDonald. Before tho short dance with which the evening concluded, chcers, led by Past Chief A. Macplierson, were given for the Mayor, and tho dancers, and led by Chief MacGillivray, for the performers, for Mis 6 Lucy Cow an", and for Mr Robertson,
