Mr Charles Lyons, 233 Cambridge terrace, Ghristchurch, has received advice that his younger son, Privato William Lyons, who some time ago was reported dangerously ill with nephritis, died in the Military Hospital, Etaples, France, on February 17th. Mrs Tooley, of Temulca. has received advice that her son, Rifleman David Doughty Tooley, had diod of wounds. Rifleman Tooley, who was 35 years of age, left with the 27th Reinforcements. Mr J. "Watson, Cameron street, Ashburton, has received word that his son, Gunnor H. G. M. Watson, is returning home invalided. Gunner Watson, who left with the Main Body, saw thirteen weeks' active service on Gallipoli, being thon invalided to Malta, and thenco to England, suffering from malaria. He returned to active service on November 14th, 1915, and -went to Franco from Egypt, having joined the N.Z.F.A. "With his younger brother he was through the Sommo and Messines battles, in the latter being slightly, gassed. In August last its effects became serious, and he was received into the "Walton-on-Thames Hospital, suffering from fever. Mr C. Eaden, Ruapuna, has received private advice that his son, Rifleman E. W. Eaden, who left with the 27th Reinforcements, and was reported severely wounded in the arm and shoulder, on December 3rd, 1917, is progressing favourably, though ho has not yet regained the use of his arm. Gunner Campbell, of Springburn, Ashburton, "who' died of wounds on December 3rd, was a meiribor of the 9th Reinforcements. He had been through all the engagements since the division landod in France, only being away from his unit on one occasion, when he was slightly wounded in the back during the Somme offensive. He joined up again after threo weeks in the base hospital. Mr R. E. Johnson, Oxford, has received word that his son Clarence was wounded in the neck oil January 14th, and that he is progressing favourably. Private Johnson has spent most of his ljfe in Oxford, where he was educated. On leaving school he assisted his father in his motor and bicycle business. For some years he was a member of the Oxford Brass Band, and while in England was a member of the Regimental Band. Mr and Mrs C. Lewis, Hugh street, Kaiapoi, have received advico that their son, Private Daniel C. Lewis, was severely wounded in the left shoulder on January 28th, and has been admitted to the Walton-on-Thames Hospital. Private Lewis is twenty-three years of age, and received his education at the Kaiapoi District High School. He left with the 23rd Renforcements. Mrs H. Chapman, Flaxton, has received advice that her brother, LanceCorporal John Joyce, was admitted to a hospital in France on January 30th, suffering from a gunshot wound in the right thigh. Lance-Corporal J<syce left with the loth Reinforcements. This is the second time he has been wounded. Cable advice haj been received that Private F. Mcßoberts, who left with the 10th Reinforcements, was dangerously wounded in France on January 30th. The occurrence was due to tho accidental explosion of a bomb, which shattered his arm, shoulder, and leg. Private Mcßoberts is the son of Mr McRoberts, of "Waipukurau, and a nephew of Mr W. Mcßoberts, of Greymouth. I Lieutenant E. O. Mcßoberts. an uncle, was killed on October 4th in France.
