ANNUAL SWIMMING SPORTS. About 320 boys from Christ's College arrived at Lyttelton by the 8.55 a.m. train yesterday, on their way to Corsair Bay, where the annual swimming sports were held. Some of the boys wrslked from the port to Corsair, and the remainder were conveyed there by the launch Pur an. The lads were under the charge of Messrs A. E. Flower R. T. Monteath, E. Jenkins, H. Hudson, and A. H. Merton. of the College teaching staff. Among- thcrae who were present were: Meedames Merton and Flower, and Messrs J. F. D. White. O. D. Davie, A. L. Rowe, R. H. Evans. Gilbert Reeves, C. C. Corfe, the Rev. F. G. Brittain, and the Rev. A, C. Purcliaa Results of the swimming races were as follows: 75yda Handicap (open): M. Bassett 1, N. D. Cox and R. B. Wilson (dead heat) 2, J. Lowry 3. Won. by four yards, 30yds Race (Lower School): J. Plummer 1, A. Blunden 2, A. J. Barrage 3. 100 yds Back Handicap: P. Grant (25sec) 1. C. W. H. Ronaldson (33secj 2, E. T. Ken6!in"c?i? (-3bcc) 3. J. N. Lowry (scr) secured fifth place, Twenty-one starters. Won by two yards. 100 yds (under 13): J. H. Sugden 1 P. Murphy 2, H. Lester 3. Six starters. Won ny ten yards. 200 yds Handicap (open): M. Basectt 1, R. Wilson - J. L. Williams 3. Five startors. Won ©3' three yarde. 100 yds Handicap (boys under 15)- J G Raymond 1 G B. Smyth 2, R. Thompson 3„ ~ ,en starters. Won bv two yards. 200 yds Handicap: L. H. Peck (40sec) 1, G. Morton (17sec) 2, R. Turnbull (2<teec) 3 \\ on by twenty yards. Walker (SOsec), who was leading by 15 yaids close to the finishing poet, withdrew from the race. Tie remainder of the races and other aquatic events, including diving competitions, will be decided in the College baths. The swimming sports were concluded at 12.30. After lunch the boys spent an enjoyable afternoon in games, picnicking, etc., returning to Christchurch by the 4.35 p.m. train. TO-DAY'S CRICKET MATCHESThe annual matches between Present and Post pupils of Christ's College will be played on the College ground this afternoon. The matches, of which there will be two, will te of a more informal nature than usual. His Excellency the Governor-General will be a member of the Old Boys' first team. The Old Boys' teams will be choecn from the following, although the names gi"«n do not form a complete list: —Stronts, Beadel, J O. Jameeon. Maitland Spooncr, K. S. Williams, D. R. Harman, Raphael, Barritt, H. Palmer, D. B. MacFarland, L. E. Cook, Lewis, H. M. Reeves, and Purchas. The College first eleven will be as follows: —R. C. Blunt, J. H. Edmond, H. S. Hindmarsh, J. N. Lowry. G. L. Burdon, M. F. Macfarlano. F. M. Cowlishaw, M. F. Pengelly, A. H. Sugden, W. S. Averill, and R. H. Lowry.
