4 OBITUARY. Advice iv,ia received yesterday (hut. Jamee l\oid, licensee for tho past eighteen months of the CantorbuTv Hotol t Jjyttelton, died at tho Wharf Hotel. Dnnedin, yesterday, having gono to iho southern city in company with Mrs Reid to spend a holiduy for the benefit of ]iia health. Tho immediate caxiso of death was hemorrhage, but tho late Mr Reid had been in delicate health for a considerable time. Prior to commencing business in the port the deceased wns proprietor of the Commercial Hotel, Greymouth, He was born in Scotland in IS7U.
MAGISTRATE'S COURT. At tho local Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, before M'r Y<\ T. tester, JAlfred Huft was charged with drunkenness' and, disorderly conduct. In consideration ot tho lact iliat ho had only 7s in his possession, and had a steamer ticket for Wellington, tho bonch decidcd tp convict and discharge liuu. Thomas Henry Field (Mr Hunter), on a charge of attempted rape, was remanded until February 27th. Jtr Hunter applied for hail on behalf of accused, but it Was refused. in view of the eeriousnees of the charge. HARBOUR LIGHT PICTURES. "The Millionaire's Double," an interesting Metro romance, was presented last evening: at the Harbour Light Picture Theatre. At today's sessions the Paramount picture, "Sleeping Firee," in which. Paulino Frederick pi ay a the leading role, will bo shown. | ELECTRIC STREET ILLUMINATION. Tho Lake Coleridge electric power will be used for the first time in Lyttelton for special street illumination purposes at "Paddy's Market" to-morrow night, in Norwich quay, opposite the Seamen's Institute.
