It is officially announced that six or seven aeroplanes carried out Sunday's raid, but only one penetrated to London. It passed the Isle of Thanefc at 9.45 p.m., followed the Thames, and crossed Lonuon from the south-east to the north-west. Bombs were dropped in various districts between 10.40 and 10.55. The remaining raiders attempted to reach London from the north-east, across Essex, and one from the east along the Thames, but all were turned back. The damage has not yet been reported. Sir Douglas Haig reports:— "Our aeroplanes on Sunday dropped six tons of bombs on various targets, including aerodromes, in Tournai and Lille, and a dump near Courtrai. "There was severe air fighting. We brought down 16 machines, while three of ours are missing. "We raided again last night aerodromes in Glieni and Tournai. a railway station and sidings at Conflans. Bursts were observed, an<J a large fire started. "Our squadrons to-day raided in davlight with excellent results barracks and a railwav station at Treves, and steel works and a railway station at Thionville. They caused two large fires at Treves. "These raids were made despite ail extremely heavy anti-aircraft gunfire."
