In the House of Representatives to. day, in reply to qqfstions, Minister* stated: That it is not considered advisable to malco nnv representations to tho Imperial Government whereby any alteration should bo made in - the rootle of payment for moat, which as a whole have worked very satisfactorily. That if the Imperial Cabinet is convened in 1918, arrangements will fo mado for New Zealand. ,to bo represented.
That proposals are now being formulated for the establishment of. a separate prison for all military offenders, so that thev may bo < kept entirely apart from the'ordinary criminal class. That the appointment ,of Mr A. D Thomson as Assistant-Commissioner under tho Pubjio Servico Act, 1912, was for a term of seven years. There is no intention to make a change rt present.
