annual meeting.
The annual meeting of the St. | Saviour's Guild -was held in the! Y.M.C.A. yesterday, Bishop Julius presiding over a. good attendance. The treasurer's statement for the year ending September 15th, 1917, showed that the receipts, including £858 17s 3d brought forward, were £3370 14s 2d, and the expendrture £2017 18s 2d, leaving a balance or £3oZ 16s 2d. ... . , ' In moving the adoption of the report .and balance-sheet, Mr H. D. Andrews paid a tribute\ to the splendid work which had been done for the Guild by the secretary, Mr Henry Righton. Mr S.' S. Blackburne- seconded tne motion, which carried unanimously. Archdeacon Ens or read the report of the Education Committee, and Mr C. E. Jones reported that Mr W. Nicholls, of Belfast, had promised a loan of £1000 for. three years, free of interest, to help with the cost of the new buildings. A vote of thanks to Mr Nicholls was unanimously carried. The Rev. J. H. Rogers reported that there were now nineteen children in the Boys' Home, Timaru. The committee understood its work, and the staff was an excellent one. The boys were being ■worked on the scout system, which was excellent for discipline. _ The action of the Timaru committee in establishing the Home was approved. The chairman said it was hoped that the end of the year would see the new building at Timaru finished. In a very little while the work of the Guild would bo in full, swing. Th€> following were elected members of the Council for the ensuing year:— Mrs A. C. Sandston, Mrs C. TV. Reid, Nurse Maude, and Messrs Hastings, Bridge and H. IX Andrews.
