SPREYDON BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION,
At tho monthly meeting of the Spreydon Burgeeeos' Association tho secretary was instructed to write to tho borough Council, suggesting that the two trnusfonner houses in Harrington street bt> piacecl inside a fence instead of on tho majn thoroughiaro. Tho president was instructed to wait on Mr Wm. Cork, with si view of getting him to fill tho vacancy caused by the retirement of Councillor H. Taylor, a member for tho cast ward. CANTERBURY KENNEL CLUB. The annual meeting of the Kennel Club was held last evening, Dr. Martland presiding over a fair attendance. The report and balance-sheet, were adopted. The final monthly meeting of the "West Cliristchurch District -High. School Committee, was held on Wednesday evening. X-'rescnt '—Dr 'Chilton (chairman), Messrs H. Holland, J. Middlcton, H. S. Whitham, W. B. Bultitudo, and G. Barrell. Tho chairman reported thai he had met tho Education \ Board's architect and tho chief inspector, Mr Brock, and discussed tho plans for increased accommodation, and- as quick relief was nece3sary temporary buildings weTe suggested, and the Architect undertook'to place "his CCho chairman's) views bofoTo tho jJoard. s A circular from tho School Committees' / ?ociation -was received, but it was decided to take no action in regard to it. It was agreed to allow tho Old Girls' Association tho luso of the tennis court on Saturday afternoon. It was decided to make application to tho Domains Board for the free us© of one playing ground in the Park for all days of tho -week except Saturday. The headmaster reported that tho roll number in tho primary department was 699,75 and tho average attendance 655.1., In the secondary department tho -roll number was 272.25 and the average attendance 259, About sirfjr learners' lor swimming had been won since tho Christmas holidays. A further contribution to -the- Lady Liverpool Fund for the purchase of material to bo made up was handed in by pupils, amounting to £3 Is 3£d, together with a largo number of tins to bo used for packing eoldiers' comforts. All the members present consented to nomination for tho now committee.
