ITY 0F LIMVOOD LODGE.
A meeting of the Ivy oi Linwood Lodg®, TLA 0.D., was held in the> Orango Hall on Monday evening, A2>. Bro. Oswald in tho chair. A letter of resignation wae received from Dr. Orooke. It was resolved that it be accepted from tho end of tho quarter, and that a letter of appreciation of past Beiricee be forwarded' to the doctor. On the general business being dispensed with, tho lodge adjourned, when Professor "White garo an interesting lecture on "Physiology," giving a few demonstrations. Tb© visitors included the sisters of the Queen of the Oak Xodgc. SHIRLEY SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Shirley School Committee was held last Thursday. Present —Messrs Besnland (chairman), Thompson, Xeilson, and McCloskio, and Mrs McKay. The Visiting Committee reported having seen the headmaster with reference to n«ing less writing pads in the school. Tho headmaster «tat«l that either elates or writing pads were optional for tho children to use for most purposes. Mr Ix>rtmer"s motion— "That as a mark of apprecis&m. to their fathers, this committee desire to present to soldiers' children attending the school the necessary echool hooks and reqnisites"—was left over for tho incoming committee to deal with. It was decided to again write to the Board of Education about the state of the blackboards. The headmaster's report was read and received. It stated that the average attendance for the quarter ending March 31st was 369. and the roll number was 41-4. The ■ Visiting Committee appointed for the month were Messrs Lorimer and McCloskie.
