PORT LEVY REGATTA.

Although the weather conditions yesterday morning we r® rather compromising, about 500 excursionists proceeded on tho launches John Andc:so:i and Purau to Port Levy to attend the sports regatta held there. Music was provided by the Sumner Brass Baud. Tho aquatic events resulted as follows: — Handicap Launch Raco, for boats under 5 knots; distance four ini'ea—lna. (G. Barrett (15min)„timc SSmin, 2; Minerva (O .Waghorn (scr), time Sumin, 3. Also started: Dove, Moj, Standard, bpindritt, and Aururi. Ladies' Rowing Raoe—Miss Tikau 1, Mies Tianui 2, Miss Miller 3. Handicap Yacht Race —Stormbird (H. Joughin), 1; Rose (Norris), 2. There were seven entries, but only three boats finished owing to the light wind. Boys' Dinghey Raco—J. Sullivcn 1, Roberts 2. There were five entries. Dinghey Sculling Raee—W. Adams 1, G. Mapple 2. There were five starters. In consec.uence oE the very- light breeze blowing, the life-saving competition for yachts did not take place. There were also come interesting laud snorts and a babv show. The most popular event of the c_ay was the raco to watch a greasy pig, tho animal being oventualy cap. tured after an exciting chas?. The Sports Committee were provided with refreshments by the Maori campers, who took a prominent part in the day's proceedings. The resident Maoris took advantage of ihe occasion to sell flowers, baskets, and other, Maori work to raise funds for Rod Cross work. During the evoning' the Maori campers lield a concert and dance in the large marquee, tho proceeds of which are to be equally divided betweeA tho Lady Liverpool Fund and the Red Cross Fund.
