At Ashburton Alpo was accorded a farewell by tho Mayor, and wa3 cheered by a laigo crowd. His lime 3 for tils different stage} were as follows:—AaJiburton, leii. at 10.27 a.m.: Rakaia, arrived. 2.3 p.m., left 2.31 p.m.; Dunsandel, arrived, -1.56 p.m., left 5.-1 p.m.; Burnham, arrived, 6.17 p.m., left 6.30 p.m.: C'tthcdral square, arrived ' 10.5 pjn. There was a large crowd awaiting Alpe's arrival in the Squcre, and ho was warmly chcjred , along Cashel arid Colombo streets to the pjatiorm in the Square, where Mr H. M. Cotton, the president of tha Returned So]di?rs' Association, welccmcd him. and. presented him with a certificate giving the official timekeeper's lima for the walk.
