The spccial holiday attraction at the Theatre Hoy a] willjbe the return visit oi ; Tho Charley's Aunt Comedy Company, who will open on Easter Saturday night, in tho comedy, 'Tom, Diclc, and Hairylt is now some fifteen years since Mr "\Y. I'\ Hawtrey . presented this famous comedy to a Christchurch audience. Tho characters of Tom, Dick, and Harry will he taken by MiKenneth Aitken, J. L. Phillips, and Mr Jack I/nrsen, while Mr Norman Aitken will ho seen in Mr Hawtrey'g old part, General Stanhope, and Mr Paul Latham as Dr. Harding. Miss Pauline Brown will appear as Miss Isabel Howard, and Miss Vere St. John as Miss Daisy Armitage, Miss-McDonald .as Mrs Winters (the lady who is always crying), and Mi ss Kutner as Miss Seniors (the lady who is .always laughing). Tho box plan is now open at Milnor and. Thompson's, and day sale tickets may be obtained at the Toy Cave.
OPERA HOUSE
The hew vaudeville programme to be presented at the Opera House on Saturday promises to bo one of the most interesting for some time past. The comedy side of the bill will be well looked after by . several eombdians, prominent amongst them being Billy Brown, a negro humorist, who will bo well remembered as a member of the team of Brown and Sorlie. Patter will be provided by Lilton and West, and a 'humorous sketch will be offered by Sterling and Love, entitled "Music Afloat." A well-known performer to reappear for a few nights is Phil Pereival, "the drunk at the piano." The popular comedienne, Miss Violet Trevenyon. will be hcartl in a number of now and catehy dittics. A new-comer, with a ?>ig repuI tation is Molinari. an Italian tenor, who is considered to be a "Fuller find." He will be heard in oi>eratic and ballad selections. Geo. D'Alma, the wellknown banjoist, will make a rc-appear-ance, and others on the programme are Dora Oberman (soprano), Leonard's Dogs, and Edenbnry (equilibrist). Special matinees will be given on Saturday and Easter Monday.
STRAXD PICTURES
The new picture theatre. the Strand, next tbo G.P.0., Cathedral square, opens to-day. T!ic gross proceeds until 6 2>-m. wi" be given to the l*e turned Soldiers' Association. Tbo Strand Theatro is claimed to bo tbo only realiy continuons picture house in New Zealand, as there will ho no delays in between the changes of pictures, there being two biotrapli machines operating. The special.opening programme includes a screen adaptation from tho famous novel by Francis Matthews, entitled "Pamela's Past." There will also be a depiction of the actual action of artillery at the front during the bombardment of Nicuport. Other items of interest include topical and comedy pictures. Tho management have engaged tlie services of the Ellwood Trio, who will pdvioo suitable incidental music in keeping with the high standard of films screened. During the interval Harry Ellwood will play violin solos. The manager is Mr A. Kowley, who for sonic years has been well-known to patrons of His Majesty's Theatre.
