The last meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club resulted in a profit of £600. which was distributed between the following funds:—Red Cross Fund, Soldiers' Club, Wounded Soldiers' Fund, Kit Fund, Distress Caused by the War Fund, and to the Y.M.C.A. This club iias previously given away £1467 os 3d to the various funds, and it has paid Government taxes since the beginning of hostilities in Europe amounting to £3193 9 S 2d. The final payments for the Great Easter Handicap, taken last evening, reduced the held for that event to seventeen, those that were withdrawn being Her. There are eleven still engaged in tbe Great Autumn Handicap, and tho class represented in both this event and the Great Easter Handicap i s sufficient to guarj an too contests worthy of such important j events. The Champagne Stakes is un- : fortunately reduced to a match between Gamecock and Estlnud, and in one or
two of the other events on the first day the fields will be small, but the racing promises to be very good. 3>avid Munn, a well-known Hastings trainer, died in Napier last Saturday afternoon, after a long illness.
