Massey. iu speaking at York in acknowledging the freedom of tho city, said that- the public of Groat Britain and the public o* the Dominions were now anxious for a closer union. The statesmen of Britain must take advantage of the present opportunity by giving a lead n connexion with tho building up of that great Imperial cdilice of which the foundations were being well and truly laid in the present war. It was a splendid thing for representative men from the Dominions to visit tho United Kingdom and to see that the pcoplo wore well abreast of tho times, and were not decaying, as the Germans had deluded themselves that they were. It was equally important that the British people and tho people of the Dominions should gain an idea ol" the real potentialities of the Empire.
