FIRES.
A four-roomed cottage at Puaha, belonging to Mr Fred Reed, was totally destroyed by fire on 'inursday nignt, practically nothing being eared. The fire is supposed to have started owing to & defective chimney. There was £i>u insurance on the building, but in treat offico is not known. Mr iteed and his brother were in bed tvhen the fire broke out, and had a narrow escape.
