There are 37 or 38 men employed on the railway extension works at Waihao Dowiik, the immediate task lieing tho shifting of the face of tho bluff at the elbow oi tho Waihao. just beyond Richards's woolsheds. The men aro working in gangs on tho co-operative principle. Tlio Government Labour Agent in Waimate aenz threo men out to tho railway works at Waihao Downs last week, selecting thoso with larsre families, and most in need of assistance. Tho men were back in town before night. Tbey did not like the look of tho job.
