(Zsoie: Quotations, unlesa otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot:— Mutton—The market is firm, with an upward tendency Canterbury 4£d far light weignt, heavy weight 4d; Worth Island 4j}d for light weight. Lamb —Tho market is weaker, and slightly lower as a result of the heavy arrivals during last month. Canterbury two's 6d; heavy weights, four's Sid; other than Canterbury 5Jd, for light weight. The demand is chiefly for very light weight. Beef —The masket is very firm. Now Zealand hinds sd, fores 3_d. Supplies of American chilled beef are email. Hinds Oid, fores 3Jd. ButterI—The1 —The market is very onsettied on account of the European situation. Danish is steady at 181e to 1345. New Zealand firm, at, 120s to ' 1345. Australian firm, at ll2s to 114s. Siberian in good demand at 110s to 114s. Irish creamery, 118s to 120s, unsalted 120s to 1225. Cheese—The market is quiet but steady at present, and is not affected to any extent by the European situation. Canadian white and coloured 63s to 655. New Zealand white GGs to 66s 6d, coloured 64s to 655. Hemp—The market is lifeless. .New Zealand good, fair £24VH)s, fair £22 10s. Manila fair current £25. The' cutput from Manila for the past week waa 16,000 bales. Kauri Gum—Nothing was sold at auction this week. Dark brown, selected . and rescraped, £7; dark brown, three-quarter scraped, £4 10s; dark brown chips, drossy, £2 ss; pale amber, rescraped, £12 IOs; pale threequarter scraped, £9; diggers' chips (good), £3 10s. . ■ Wool —Th? market is quiet. Grain —Excitement on the market continues and prices are still rising. New Zealand wheat 39s c.i.f. A grade Garton oats 23s c.i.f. New Zealand peas (Partridge) per 5041b, 545. New Zealand beans, f'a.q. (new .crop) per 5041b, 35s 6d. Honey—Tha market is quiet, and email business is doing. New Zealand finest 455. General business is at a standstill on all markets except for food supplies. There ia nothing doing because the cover for the war risk makes it impossible except at prohibitive charges. Quotations are nominal. The * following shipments of produce wore despatched from the Argentine to the United Kingdom during July, as compared with July of 1913:— 1914. 1913.
