War has begun between Germany and France. German trebps crossed tho French frontier without a declaration of war, and it is reported that they wero defeated.

Russians invaded Germany in Prussian Poland, and are said to havo been repulsed. Germany has violated the neutrality of Luxemburg, and to a question from Great Britain as to whether tho neutrality of Belgium would bo respected, replied that sho ■was unable to say. There have been remarkablo demonsti _*ions in London, especially outside Buckingham Palace. Tho British Cabinet had a long sitting, and its decision is expected to-day. Fooling in the Dominions is resolute, and preparations far the worst are being made. Australia has offered 20,000 men.

Teports that a small German force seized tho Luxemburg railway station and eoveral railway bridges, to ensure the passage of. military trains across tho Duchy of Luxemburg. The Russians attacked tho W T artho river railway bridge, near Neustadt, in the German province of Posen, and wero ropulsed. A later message states that tho Germans are advancing on Lcngevy. The Russians attacked Milosla station, but wero checked. A strong column crossed tho frontier at Schwidden. Cossacks are advancing on Johannisberg.
