BEE-KEEPING ON THE PENINSULA.
A number of Peninsula bee-keepers interested in tho formation of a local branch of the National Bee-k"---ers' Association, mot in the Couna_«r .amber, Duvauchelle Bay, on Thursday. Sufficient support was forthcoming, and it was unanimously decided t-o form a branch. Rules were drawn up, the confirmation of which and the election of officers being postponed till the next meeting, which will bo held shortly after the National Association's Conference, which is to be held in Wellington on the 17th, 18th, and l&th insts. Messrs "W. B. Bray and W. A. Elliott wero appointed to represent the branch at the conference. The following motion was carried unanimously:— "This Association is alarmed at tho increase of foul brood on Banks Peninsula, and requests the Department of Agriculture to make a thorough inspection as early as possible." , After a general discussion on tho prospects of the local and e_rport markets for honey, the meeting adjourned.
