Cloud (0-10) .. ..4 8 The meteorological observations taken at the Ashburton weather station for May were: —Highest readings of the- barometer, 30.16 inches on the 28th, lowest 29.26 inches on the31st; highest readings of the maximum thermometer, 6Jdeg. on the 4th, lowest 42de$. on the 24th; highest readings minimum thermometer, 4Sdeg. on the loth, lowest 27.5 dog. on the 2Sth. Frost was recorded on 21 days, ranging from lSJdeg. downwards. Rain fell on 12 days, totalling 3.46 in. Tbo sunshine recorded tors 128 hours 13 ininntee, there being two sunless days. The meteorological observations taken by Mr J. Carr at- "Rudstone," Methvcn, fo.May chow that rain fell on 12 daye, totalling 4.30 in. Fronts were recorded on 20 days, the heaviest being Bdeg GOVERNMENT REPORT. Mt B. V. Pcmberton, Acting-Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather report at 4 p.m. yesterday:— Wind. Bar.
