OXFORD.
The Oxford County Council met on Tuesday. Present— Messrs H. Camp- ! boil (chairman), A. Baxter, H. 'fJ Cooper, J. Cross, A. Meyers, J. AlcCor- ' mack, and J. Wells. It was resolved to put a small, bolster in the main : diain at Mr Thompson's, also bolsters in the Ashley and Eyre rivers, as soon ac the weather is favourable, it wae resolved to strike a general rate of one ' half penny in the £ for the current year. The clerk was instructed to serve notices to clear gorse from roads. The water-race ranger reported that a ratepayer had refused to clean a racoon a road fronting his prot>erty. The ranger was instructed to enforce the by-law. A. deputation waited on the Council regarding storm-water from Grithths' ni "- —T- c surveyor was instructed to request the owner to clear the etorm■water course, otherwise fo have the! work done at the owner's expense. It was resolved to form file Brown's Rock road, also to inspect the Burnt UTH wd. The chairman' of the West Oxford School Committee was granted permission to take soil from the terrace for the school gardens. The earveyor was asked to report regarding improvements to Domain and Wright'e roads, also in the matter of fencing Powell's corner at the junction of High, i street and Ashley Gorce road. The Hospital Board made a levy of £585 On 10d for the year.
