(press assocptiov tet/k«ram.") DUNEDIX, June 4. At a meeting of tho Otago Educate
Institute to-day. Miss Mackenzie moved that women teachers in sclogls ot giau, VI. should not be removed from their. positions so long as they prove capable of parforming the duties attached to schools of this grade, without being allowed an opportunity of accepting a position carrying an equal salary. There was a general agreement that hardship was frequently imposed upon women teachers, and that the position was aggravated by the fact that the teacher who was shifted from school, in addition to sufCerin.ee loss of salary, had to spend about £15 in shifting. Mr Vt. Davidson said that this van another argument for a Dominion scalt of salaries, and a scheme for promotion and other members added that it was also an argument for a- scheme of salaries based, upon efficiency and service. ■ .
