TEMUKA ROAD BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Tomuka, lload Board was held yesterday. Present• : Messrs G. TV. "Arrritage (chairman), J. Talbot, G. McCullough, l>. Grant, and G. Smart. Correspondence was read from E. Hide, Waitohi Flat, regarding tho condition of the road near Southby's Comer.—Overseer to inspect and report. From Hearn Bros., Rangitata, asking for securo planks across the Main South ford of the Rangitata and the removal of the big stones from the roadway.—To be attended to. From Winchester Library Committee, asking for payment of grant of £30 made towards library additions.—PayI ment to be made. From C. J. Neville and G. T. Rae, asking for the shineling of Wilks's road. —Work to be done when weather is favourable. From RMaddren, Winchester, asking for shingling on road opposite his property.—Work to be done. The tender of TJonobuo Bros., for general reoairs. was accepted. For the deepening of 110 chains of drain at Clandeboye. the tender of Tarrent and Small, at £271 16s, was accepted, subject to the ratepayers 'interested increasing thoir contribution from 12s 6d per chain to a third cf the cost of the work. A deniitation. consisting of Messrs Ellis, McLeod, Ward, and Air.ny waited upon the Board, asking that no action bs tak«n by the Board in outtinr off Tenuiks from -ho proposed now Geraldine County. After it was -nsolved to on 11 another meeting of rate"avers? to discuss the question. Mt J. Talbot mentioned the fact that Waitohi h:u.i now threerepresentatives .on the Board, and Rangitata none. This, ho considered, ins "a mistake, and he therefore, as a Wp.itohi member, proposed to resign. The resignation of the clerk was accepted.
