THE STORSTAD'S PART.
K.C.'S LN'DICTMENT.
QUEBEC, June 2. Mr Louis Gosselin, King's Counsel, declares that the Stortad's captain did nothing. .Mr Go_solin s_y_ that when he reached the Stor«stad after being an hour in a collapsible boat, he appealed to Captain Androsen to assist tho drowning persons, but tho captain merely looked at him.
Mr Gosselin said ho was willing to swear that no boats wero launched from tho Storstad, and that her crow wero stauding idle on deck when ho said:
"For God's _ako, you ought to do some-
thing."
Mr Lionel Kent, another passenger, confirmed Mr Go_selin'& statement. The Storstad did not put out boats" for a considerable timo after the collision.
Mr Sampson, the liner's chief engineer, says a desperato effort was made to beach the Empress of Ireland, but the engines wero ti-Scloss. After tho lights went out, Mr Sampson told his men to save themselves, and they scrambled up a ladder.which then, owing to tho vessel's list, formed part of the ceiling of tho engineroom. The men crawled out on the derrick posts, when sotne of the vessel's top-hamper fell, carrying them into the water.
