It has been definitely arranged that the annual auxiliary week's camp he d by the mounted men in the Peninsula and Ellesmero districts in lieu of so many daylight parade, and parades ior musketry, will tako place at Barry s hay during the first week of October. The camp will probaßly be in the charge of Captain Overton, and will bo I held in Mr R. Latter's paddock on ! Barry's bay flat. The ground is a I most suitable on© for th© camp, being : flat, with a good stream close by. Ih© : Peninsula Horse Show Association wiil ; probably hold their annual Show at tho same time of the earn© to enable the troopers to exhibit the many fine horses that belong to the troops.

The Canterbury 31ethodist Young Women's Bible Class Onion held a rally iv th© Ashburton Baring Square Methodist C_iurch schoolroom yesterday. About sixty members were prese.**"; "representative of Christchurch, L>cielton, Kaiapoi, Leeston, Timaru, Geraldine, ' Temuka. and Ashburton. Sister Ruth, occupied the chair, in the absence of tho president of the Unon. Two sessions were held, one in the forenoon and one in the afternoon. At the former Sister Catherino gave an address on "Impressions of .Auckland," and in the afternoon Sister Grace Crump, lady superintendent of tho -Methodist Dnnconess Houso in wristchurch, gave an address on "Women's Work in the Church." Tho visitors were entertained during the day by the Ashburton Senior and Junior Biblo Classes.
Tho membor for Ashburton (Mr VV. Nosworthy) has received word from tho Minister of Education tnat the Education Board has been advised of a grant for the enlargement of the Hampstead School.
