At a meeting of the Barbarians/ {society last eveni-na, Mr J- Pavitt presided. A mace was provided by one nf the memhers. it b_in;_; a large let' bono of the Dinornis—tho extinct moa. -_r J. L. Wilson gave a paper <>_ 'Leaves.'" dealing with the utility of certain loaves and iho necessity for more trees for timber purpo-t-s. and, if possible, for paper making. A discussion on military training followed in whish Messrs C. M'*-"->n »Villian>s, J. L. Con Jan, G. A. Kiesling. A. f. Gray, E. E. Paoprill, A. Smither, tbe Rev. P. W. Fair-lough, Dr. J. H. Crawshaw, and others took-part. At tbe nest meeting of the Society a moc_ breaoh-of-p»-omise trial will be held.
