NEWS AND NOTES.
SALEYARDS FOR WAIAU. There was an attendance of about 50 farmers, at a public meeting called by the Farmers' Union to consider the question of establishing salcvards in the Waiau district. Mr E. P. H. Burbury occupied the chair. Representativewere present irom various auctioneering and other firms. After a long discussion, it was decided that it was desirable to establish saleyards in Waiau, and a committee, consisting of Messrs E. P. H. Burburv, W. Banks, J. Lee, H. T. Beavan. C. Netting, P. McDoogal, L. J. Pulley, J. Little, and P. Ivorach, were appointed to go ly into tho matter and report to another meeting. Mr J. Buttle, representing Messrs Fletcher, Humphreys and Co., promised to submit a scheme to the committeo for erecting yards and leasing them to the farmers.
