A GREAT STEAMSHIP COMPANY.
The Canadian Pacific Railway Company, in addition to its vast interests in the railroads of Canada, forming the principal connexion between the Atlantic . and the Pacific oceans, is also a great ship-owning linn Its fleet comprises 58 steamers aggregating over 230,000 tons, the majority of them being high-class mail and passenger liners. The C.PJR. Co.
operates between Liverpool and Quebec. Montreal, and St. John, N. 8., on the Atlantic, and also'maintains an express service on the Pacific between Vancouver, Hongkong, and Yokohama. In the latter service are the magnificent steamers Empress of Russia and Empress of Asia, built last year by the Fairfield Co. The C.P.R. Company also operates steamships on the Great Lakes of Canada., and runs fast turbine steamers between Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle.
